Early North American jets were obvious evolutions of the P-51 Mustang. The jet fighter on the left is the North American FJ-1 Fury which was basically a P-51 with a jet engine. It soon evolved into the FJ-2 (pictured on the right) and then later into the F-86 Sabre.
